Job Description

Core Responsibilities

* People strategy and business planning (in collaboration with finance colleagues and the people team)
* Organisational effectiveness and design, in particular challenging leverage models and ways of working
* Putting in place future strategic workforce planning and succession plans
* Acting as a "Challenger Leader",- a catalyst for change and growth by having deep, trusted relationships and in depth understanding of the business to enable effective and robust challenger conversations
* Coaching, enabling and developing the Partner/Director group and high potential future leaders to perform at their best and align their behaviour to the firm's future direction
* Building and developing high performing leadership teams in collaboration with the central leadership function

Core Duties

* Developing depth and breadth of working relationships with key stakeholders in their business unit, and developing and implementing the people strategy
* Leadership coaching to drive high performance in the partner/director group
* Managing and developing the talent manager team; role modelling excellent people manager skills
* Partnering with centres of excellence to shape and influence overall people and culture priorities and improve service delivery and ensure consistency of implementation across the firm
* Engaging practice leaders in key people priorities, improving communication and engagement
* Being held to account for the governance of all people risks; including employee relation issues
* Enabling and embedding the strategy of the firm in a consistent way - taking responsibility for remaining objective and taking a one firm approach

Key Accountabilities

* Support and enables our "Vibrant Economy" agenda to come to life in their business unit - is actively involved in skill gap analysis, live labs and follow up of sharing ideas to bring the change agenda to life and make a difference
* Brings outside-in thinking and best practice insights, and understands the talent landscape in the marketplace, working closely with the recruitment team
* Understands market dynamics impacting on the business and people strategy in their area, and uses this to inform thinking and decision making
* Identifies growth opportunities and declining roles / teams and adjusts resourcing, talent management and development strategies as needed
* Supports growth in their business unit, attending target events where appropriate

Seize opportunities in a connected world (Clients)
* Translates our "Vision 2020" into a clear people strategy for their business unit
* Develops strong consultative relationships with key stakeholders; brings insight and challenge to get to the heart of the matter
* Coaches and enables business unit leaders to achieve their long-term business goals by offering support and challenge to encourage high performance
* Strategic workforce planning - leads the analysis of current resource and talent levels and the development of business unit workforce plans, including the future skill needs, talent and headcount requirements in collaboration with the recruitment teams
* Succession planning - drives business unit succession planning to ensure that plans for key roles are in place and that action is taken to mitigate any identified risks
* Reward - partners with the reward centre of excellence to evaluate the effectiveness of existing reward strategies, representing their business unit to ensure reward strategies and specific packages help attract, engage and retain. Facilitates discussion on reward with key stakeholders and supports the talent managers in ensuring the principles of our reward and recognition strategy are applied in an equitable and meritocratic way
* Works with talent managers, management, internal communications to develop and champion an engagement strategy that is appropriate for the business unit and can demonstrate clear business results
* Ensures talent managers identify performance concerns early and that appropriate case support is given to people managers to effectively manage performance.

* Supports an environment that brings out the best thinking in the senior business partner team and inspires others by sharing insights, ideas and supportive challenge
* Coaches and develops high performing talent managers and advisers who are focused on working collaboratively and delivering business unit priorities Ensures everything the talent managers do adds value and is focused on improving business performance, ensuring that we have the right people in the right job
* Leads, coordinates and ensures consistency and join up with the wider people and culture team to drive the people strategy (so the team are working to a common vision with aligned goals).

Make it easy and rewarding to deliver superior and sustainable results (Operations)
* Engages leaders to improve organisation performance through optimising organisation structure and effectively oversees any organisational redesign, commissioning help from the centres of excellence as required
* Challenges people and culture colleagues to ensure an aligned 'One Firm' approach is being applied to all aspects of the people strategy, minimising duplication of effort and tailoring firm wide programmes as needed to their business unit
* Using people metrics and management information, and working with business analyst colleagues, engages their business unit leadership in understanding key trends and develops and implements action plans to address areas of concern or opportunity
* Is held to account for the governance of all people risks including employee relation issues

The Successful Applicant

*CIPD qualified or equivalent business qualification
*Coaching qualifications
*Track record of operating at a senior level in a HR Business Partner team or equivalent
*Embodies the role of 'Trusted Business Advisor '- a forward thinker capable of engaging and developing senior leadership teams and the leaders required for the future
*Commercially driven and financially literate
*A proven coach of senior people and experienced facilitator
*A highly credible individual who has
*great influence and gravitas
*Flexible and pragmatic style - a person who has a growth mind set and can hold their opinion lightly.
* Experience working in an externally client facing business in non HR role (desirable)
*Experience of using psychometrics to enhance team dynamics (desirable)
*Organisational design experience (desirable)
*Mediation skills (desirable)
