Job Description: Senior Manager Outsourcing, Top 10

Purpose of role:

Providing clients with an efficient and effective service through the control and efficient use of the department resources. Liaison with other departments to ensure close liaison on client affairs and assisting in administration tasks to ensure a smooth running of the department.

Reporting line being into the National Head of Business Outsourcing Services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Client Portfolio - ensure that clients receive an efficient and proactive service and client expectations are exceeded throughout the year. Liaising with Clients, Partners and other S&W staff where appropriate to ensure all are kept up to date with relevant issues.
  • Management and statutory accounts, including related services, and setting budgets - awareness of commercial aspects of clients' business and impact on our work. Arrangement of timetable, booking of staff, planning and completion of management accounts, statutory accounts, VAT returns and other related assignments.
  • Business/Practice Development - preparation of proposals for new work, attendance at marketing events, development of personal contacts and identification and development of opportunities for S&W with current clients.
  • New Client Take On Procedures - assist Head with embedding new clients into the firm and within the client and staff portfolio, including work schedules.
  • Department Administration - monitoring of billing/lock-up and staffing levels.
  • Training and development - monitoring of staff performance, carrying out appraisals and ensuring feedback given to staff on a timely basis. Ensuring appropriate in house and external training received personally.
  • Client billing - attend to preparation of fee notes and fee covering letter for clients, in terms of the Business Outsourcing Services billing policy, for review by the relevant Partner/Director. Ensure WIP provisioning is kept up to date on a monthly basis as considered appropriate.
  • Review monthly and quarterly Management accounts & related files prepared by members in the team.
  • Review unaudited statutory accounts & related files prepared by members in the team.
  • Review iXBRL tagged accounts once prepared by members of the team.

Candidate Profile

Education/Qualifications:

  • Strong academic history.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CA, ACCA) or Qualified by Experience.

Key Experience/Skills:

  • Significant experience of management accounts, statutory accounts and VAT returns gained within a professional services environment.
  • Experience of working with entrepreneurial, OMB and SME clients.
  • Experience of (and appetite for) business development activities such as targeting, preparation of proposal documents, proposal presentations and attendance of networking events.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Good working knowledge of skill requirements of staff at various levels to ensure work undertaken by appropriate individual.
  • Strong communication skills in order to liaise with clients, Directors, Partners, staff and other professionals.
  • Previous experience of management and motivation of staff to ensure best performance.
  • Strong organisation & time management skills to ensure needs of clients, partners and staff are all met.
  • Monitoring costs against budget for individual clients.
