Job Description

The Senior OTC/ETD Clearing Specialist will;

  • Pro-actively partner with the businesses to provide day-to-day clearing operations support, education, insight and advise on exchange listed futures, options and OTC cleared derivatives. Two important aspects of this include managing clearing related risk issues and applying best practice daily procedures and controls.
  • Lead projects related to clearing, settlement and operations with the company's project teams and this includes acting as the business lead to ensure business requirements are effectively discussed, defined and documented to a high standard and constructively challenging the project teams and the businesses to ensure the ultimate business benefits are achieved
  • Effectively manage and work with service providers such as clearing brokers, executing brokers, exchanges and clearing vendors, including monitoring customer service and operations support
  • Build effective ongoing operational support and monitoring processes for clearing activities across the company and with the service providers that allow for continuous improvement (enhancements, upgrades, changes, new systems and processes) and track progress (issues, resolution times, root causes, mitigation steps) through metrics and service levels.
  • This position may be required to supervise people in either as direct reports or when leading projects. This requires the role to engage, motivate and development teams to achieve high performance.

The Successful Applicant

The Senior OTC/ETD Clearing Specialist must have;

  • University degree (or equivalent qualification) or substantial practical experience
  • Proven experience in exchange listed futures, options and OTC cleared derivatives and other relevant financial instruments, with an emphasis on commodities
  • Exceptional ability to apply operational expertise in identifying and addressing financial and operational risks with solid decision making and follow through on best practice procedures and controls
  • Proven track record as senior business lead in the application of business, operations, technology and process expertise to define, document, lead and deliver key derivatives clearing projects that bring about effective change
  • Practical experience and understanding of working in a regulated derivatives environment with compliance teams
  • Good experience in leading, motivating and managing teams with high engagement, development and growth of team members and positive overall team results.
  • Clear ability to understand and analyze trading and clearing rules and requirements to make effective timely decisions and escalations with strong detail orientation and accuracy
  • Skilled in managing service providers, including monitoring and tracking support and customer service
  • Ability to understand and design clearing technology and system requirements and work with IT teams
  • Willingness to travel (Global travel may be required up to 15%)
  • Demonstrates sound judgement, logic and decision making
  • Strong organisational skills, multi-tasking and project planning skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the company to deliver goals

  • Personality and gravitas to build strong and collaborative internal and external business relationships and push back as a strong business partner where necessary
