About Our Client

Senior Project Manager - Retail Development is required to lead a programme of development and new build activity across the North West for this prominent retail operator. This client-side organisation are seeking a capable construction project manager who is keen to progress to a team leadership and resource management level.

Job Description

The role of Senior Project Manager - Retail Development is a key member on the in-house property and store development function of a progressive retail business.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Closely working with the acquisitions team and third party consultants to develop and build new stores.
  • scheduling, planning the project development programme and driving forward schemes to meet the milestones.
  • Preparing monthly progress reports, monitoring performance of contractors and consultants and managing the refurbishment programmes.
  • Appointing and managing contractors to complete the works.
  • Budget management.
  • Working with all the stakeholders involved.
  • The Project Manager will be principally responsible for construction delivery of new sites, extensions and modernisation of the existing store portfolio.

They will also be responsible for the following: -

  • Monitoring the project process and ensuring project plans and deadlines are met
  • Checking quality standards and ensuring these are adhered to
  • Implementation of Company Specification to ensure a uniform standard to all projects
  • Managing relationships with external consultants, contractors and suppliers
  • Preparing tender packs and negotiating with main contractors
  • Ensuring our sites have the highest standards of Health & safety at all times
  • The ability to quickly resolve issues to ensure deadlines are not jeopardised and projects continue to progress
  • Hold weekly site meetings and produce site meeting minutes to chart construction progress.
  • Continuous feedback of progress to the Senior Team
  • Controlling the project budgets and management of additional costs when required

You will cover a region including Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside, and being based centrally such a Warrington would be ideal in order to deliver a continuous project development programme.

The Successful Applicant

Senior Project Manager - Retail Development an integral part of the in-house property team, the successful applicant will be:

  • A proven project manager with a core professional qualification (e.g. RICS, MAPM) and capable of delivering a number of building and construction projects concurrently.
  • Experience in the commercial property sector, covering both new build and refurbishment construction projects and ideally delivering projects in the retail, leisure, commercial development
  • Capable of operating autonomously in a multi-site and complex stakeholder environment.
  • Commercially aware with the acumen to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • An accomplished Senior Project Manager with the capability to lead a project team internally to deliver a programme of developments.
  • A pro-active and problem solving approach to developing a number of retail projects concurrently.
  • A strategic thinker with well-developed communication and influencing skills.

Covering the North West regional only, you will ideally be centrally based in the territory in Warrington of other parts of Cheshire or Greater Manchester.
