About Our Client

City regulator

Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Strategic Advisor (Ring Fencing) with a city regulator. Ring-fencing requires UK deposit-takers with more than £25 billion of core assets to isolate retail banking activities from riskier investment banking activities by 1 January 2019. The aim of the regime is to reduce the likelihood of disruption of key retail banking services from risks arising elsewhere in the firm's group or in the wider financial system.

You will:

  • Lead the assessment of firms' implementation plans
  • Ensure the necessary regulatory transactions for ring-fencing firms are delivered in accordance with agreed timelines
  • Build and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships across the FCA and PRA to support the effective implementation of ring-fencing
  • Assessing and recommending mitigating actions on risks to our statutory objectives arising from the transition to ring-fenced structures including adverse impact on customers and potential market disruption
  • Influence and challenging firms where new business models unduly disadvantage consumers
  • Develop procedures for dealing with new processes (such as ring-fencing transfer schemes) and ensuring they are operationally efficient and effective

The Successful Applicant

You will have:

  • Strong analytical skills: experience of assessing complex, often confidential, information, and identifying and presenting relevant issues and solutions
  • Experience of working in financial services in either a bank, regulator, government department such as HMT or credit rating agency.
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong experience of stakeholder management: evidence of building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including firms and senior management
  • Curiosity and motivation to continually learn about and investigate issues within the firms and industry we supervise

What's on Offer

£50,000 - £65,000 PA DOE plus benefits.
