National contractor providing a wide range of engineering and construction services across a number of market sectors based in Morecambe

Job Description

As a Plant Buyer you will be required to :-

  •  Manage the Plant Hire Desk, Plant Stores and Plant Maintenance teams, processes, procedures, charging guidelines & rates for the hire fleet of plant, equipment and site accommodation units.

  • Marine Pontoon Management - manage the pontoon compliance and liability processes & procedures for the control and delivery to both the hire and manufacturing markets

  • Supply Chain Management & Control for the three core departments; Plant Hire, Formwork & Precast and Steel Fabrication - set up and deliver Supply Chain Hire Agreements and Terms & Conditions - set up and deliver Contract hire and framework terms and conditions - conduct quarterly progress meetings with key suppliers - establish and monitor supplier performance management (Key Performance Indicators)
  • Business Development & Marketing - assist the General Manager and the Corporate Communications team to develop and implement a strategy to take the brand to market

The Successful Applicant

As a Plant Buyer you will have the desired qualification/skills

  •  5+ years in procurement and supply chain management
  •  Experience of plant hire procurement and construction procurement
  •  Excellent ICT skills and computer literacy.
  •  Familiar with plant hire management & finance systems including interrogation and analysis
  •  Must be able to communicate effectively at all hierarchical levels
  •  Robust commercial awareness
  •  Ability to manage staff
  •  Strong leadership skills
  •  Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety
  •  Must have hands on experience
  •  Problem solving skills
  •  Excellent time management skills
  •  Good attention to detail
  •  Ability to stay calm under pressure
  •  Methodical and thorough approach to work
  •  Good organisational skills
  •  Ability to prioritise workload
  •  Great team player
  •  Ability to show initiative
