Leading FMCG manufacturer currently having invested 6 million in the engineering function in 2015 and investing in multiple sites over 2016.

Job Description

You will primarily be responsible for:

  • The repair and maintenance of all site assets, by maintaining a strong focus on first time fix and quality of work.
  • Delivering a planned preventative maintenance program.
  • To ensure the achievement of engineering Key Performance Indicators, targets.
  • You must be flexible and Pro-active in your approach to work.
  • To deliver good manufacturing practice.
  • To organise and complete project work as agreed with the Engineering Manager.
  • You will seek out and implement improvements to reduce the level of breakdowns experienced, in line with the companies continuous improvement methodologies.
  • You will ensure all breakdowns are rectified as smoothly and effectively as possible.
  • Helping to develop new maintenance programs to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Ensuring the correct completion of appropriate documentation and reporting to all levels of the organisation will also be part of your role.
  • Training other members of staff to ensure skills are transferred across all operations.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate ideally will have:

  • A proven track record of working safely and competently as part of a team
  • An ONC or HNC (or equivalent) in electrical engineering.
  • Experience of working within a FMCG environment preferably within the food industry.
  • Will be apprentice trained (electrically biased) with proven electrical and mechanical fault finding ability.
  • The ability to read, follow and amend engineering drawings.
  • The ability to fault find on electrical/pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • You will also have a working knowledge of PLC operated equipment with the skills to maintain and monitor.
  • Familiarity with 5S and LEAN working methodologies.
  • To be tenacious and have the ability to cope under pressure
  • You must be computer literate.

Desirable Skills:

  • Mitsubishi / Allen Bradley PLC and safety circuit experience.
  • 17th edition.
  • Basic health and safety qualification.
  • Previous experience of working to Food Hygiene Standards.
  • A working knowledge of variable speed drives and inverters.
  • Knowledge operating workshop / tool room equipment, including welding equipment.
  • 5 years experience
