Job Description

  • Real time recommendations on what content to produce to maximise SEO and social traffic.
  • Forward planning for individual desks on what content to produce to maximise SEO and social traffic around known events.
  • Attending daily editorial conferences and weekly planning meetings to develop ideas and content plans with other desks.
  • Helping the team promote the use of social media across the newsroom, working closely with journalists to help develop and implement ideas and offer support.
  • Covering live events and breaking news on social media.
  • Monitoring and researching social media and search trends and emerging platforms/tools/channels.
  • Editing and maintaining the main social media feeds to a high standard.
  • Monitoring how well SEO and social advice is followed, and providing feedback, and ensuring the desks learn and follow best practice SEO.
  • Managing a team of six SEO and Social Media Editors to produce this advice, and to make changes to the site (links, page titles etc) to support it
  • Reporting and providing insight on team performance on a weekly basis.
  • Manage the team rota.

The Successful Applicant

  • Experience in both SEO and social media, preferably at a publisher.
  • Experience of leading a team, and mentoring and training those outside of the team.
  • Able to influence others effectively at senior and junior levels.
  • Line management experience.
  • Extensive experience with search and social media marketing.
  • Strong attention to detail
