About Our Client

My client are a UK leading Food based manufacturing business, who are experiencing a period of reinvestment and growth moving forwards in 2016. The nature of the investment has started to take the site in Peterborough on a growth curve upwards, now requiring a new Technical Manager. Despite being a large organisation, the site retains a family feel and you will be joining a highly motivated and dynamic senior management team with employee engagement at its core.

Job Description

In this position as Technical Manager you will be responsible for providing customers with an uncompromising, first class and fail safe system of management in terms of quality control and food-safety. As well as the day to day responsibilities of being the lead on audits, maintaining strong relationships with the retailers and ensuring compliance, you will ultimately be tasked with building upon the quality culture that they have in the business to drive them forward. This role will involve contributing to the design and delivery of the division's technical strategy, utilising and engaging the Buying and Operational teams in the delivery of that strategy. . This opportunity enables you to lead and motivate people cross functionally into delivering an excellent service.

Other duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Develop, mentor and train team members throughout the business and factory
  • Responsible for ensuring the Company Technical Procedures and Policies are updated
  • To ensure compliance with retailer standards, codes of practice, BRC and any internal technical systems.
  • To manage the Technical Team
  • To fully support any investigations into any non-conformance's to ensure that appropriate data or information is generated in a timely manner.
  • To fully support all third party audits, providing all relevant documentation in a timely manner and reviewing and explaining data and systems with auditors to ensure their understanding.
  • Deal with non-conformance's
  • To manage the site technical KPI's

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for the Technical Manager post will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience in the Fresh Produce sector
  • Experience working with retailers such as Tesco, Waitrose and Marks and Spencers
  • Ability to help educate and develop team members in order to help drive business and individual progression
  • Desire and ambition to progress through the business
  • Ideally degree qualified.
  • Lead auditor or working towards this.
  • Experience within the food industry.
  • Track record of people management.
  • HACCP/Food Safety Level 3 minimum.
