Job Description

Technical Managers Key accountability's include but are not limited to:

-Be a member of the Senior Management team and the duties therein
-Conduct other reasonable tasks allocated to support functioning of the Site Technical department
-Audit and support site to achieve the requirements of customer codes of practice. Facilitating the roll out of shared learning and best practice
-Continual improvement of Food Safety, legality and Quality within business.
-Work with the other functions to implement the Technical strategy and work towards uniform Technical standards
-Responsible for preparing the site for and managing audits and visits conducted by customers, statutory bodies and third party auditing bodies, ensuring closure on actions.
-Use knowledge to provide technical advice and support to the business and its customer and be fully coherent with current/relevant industry.
-Pro-actively investigate trends and implement actions that will derive improvements to prevent and if necessary resolve potential problems
-Conduct investigations where pathogenic micro-organisms and/or high levels of spoilage micro-organisms are detected, communicating actions to key customer contacts and implementing crisis systems where appropriate
-Management and control of the Site Hygiene function
-To co-ordinate the NPD Team to ensure most cost effective use of resources and time in order to deliver new products, processes or investment against an agreed timescale to satisfy the internal and external customer requirements.
-Preparation of monthly KPI's and present in monthly senior manager's meeting.

The Successful Applicant

In order to be successful in your application for Technical Manager, you must have the following:

-Ideally qualified in a relevant technical food qualification.
-You will have minimum 5 years' experience of working in technical management roles within the food manufacturing industry.
-Qualified in HACCP, ideally to level 4 or to minimum level 3.
-Advanced food hygiene.
-A good working knowledge of HACCP and BRC principles as well as quality management systems.
-Must have a good knowledge of quality management systems, microbiology and good manufacturing practice.
-Must have an experience of leading Technical, QA and Hygiene functions.
-Lead auditor course.
-You will have demonstrable experience of working with major retailers and hands on experience of leading retailer audits and visits.
-Will be able to demonstrate how they have improved quality performance in their current/most recent role, introducing change.
-The desire to achieve excellence, a passion for quality.
-Knowledge of BRC / retailer Quality Management Systems/ Codes of Practise essential
