About Our Client

Our large blue chip client within the Utilities sector have an urgent need to bring in a Technical Project Manager at their operational site in Hull covering the Yorkshire region.

Job Description

  • Plan and co-ordinate activities to manage technical work packages for IS capital projects and lead IT technical projects from idea to close down
  • Ensure business requirements are determined and translated into plans
  • Plan, control and manage the delivery of a technical work packages to meet the agreed business needs, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, time-scales and quality
  • Monitor, review and report on all technical work package attributes
  • Responsible for managing the technical work package in line with the Delivery Framework and Governance required
  • Undertake stakeholder management to ensure individuals are aware of technical work package progress
  • Manage internal resources and external suppliers as required
  • Have detailed knowledge around infrastructure tools and technologies to deliver projects with an infrastructure focus
  • Have an understanding of existing and emergent technologies and infrastructure, and their application or impact on the project

Ensure appropriate technical and operational documentation is written

The Successful Applicant

Must requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Technical Project Manager, IT Project Manager or similar
  • Experience implementing IS technical projects from start to end
  • Experience managing third party suppliers, and integrating third party applications
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Good technical IT knowledge
  • Understanding of data management, process transformation and migration
  • Understanding of hardware and software common architectures
  • Understanding of Networks
  • Understanding of outsourced solutions/SaaS
  • Understanding of information security

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience in the Energy industry, specifically operations/engineering
  • Background in IT Operations (e.g. Service Delivery, IT Support, Networks, etc.)
  • Project Management qualification (e.g. Prince 2 Practitioner, PMP, etc)
  • Understanding of ITIL
  • Business Analysis qualification
  • Knowledge of MS Project
