Our client Rochford Garden Machinery are a family run business based in Wincanton, Somerset founded in 1976. Since then they have grown steadily and are recognised as one of the leading garden machinery suppliers in the UK. They have a purpose built facility extending to over 100,000 sq ft with a current sales team of over 200 years' experience within the industry which support the over 1,200 valued dealers in the field. This is backed up by a dedicated technical service team, marketing and parts. They are a forward thinking company fast paced and energetic with core values at the heart of their business.

Job Description

  • The role

The Technical Service Manager will be based at Head Office report to the Managing Director and be responsible for a team of 8. The role is a key position within the business; you will support over 1,200 valued dealers giving specialist advice and guidance in a technical capacity for exclusive brands such as AL-KO, Mitox, DR and Weibang. The role also involves giving guidance and support to the Retail Service Department.

You must be prepared to travel and participate in meetings with suppliers at factories, and be able to organise and present at Dealer Service Courses within the UK and Ireland

The Successful Applicant

The candidate

The successful candidate will ideally be from an Engineering apprenticeship background with a genuine enthusiasm for domestic petrol powered garden machinery specifically including 4-stroke and 2-stroke engines. The candidate must also have a proven track record in management of an aftersales/service department.

Key background

  • From an Engineering apprenticeship background
  • Able to strip down, repair and provide maintenance on engines
  • Genuine enthusiasm for small engines (chain saws, motorbikes)
  • In-depth knowledge of 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines
  • Able to effectively troubleshoot and provide diagnosis over the telephone on mechanical queries
  • Familiar with following clear procedures and systems
  • Able to produce clear documentation of fault finding and solution documentation for the customers
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to effectively give advice where required to 600 technical dealerships that sell our exclusive brands.
