Job Description

1.To work with businesses and investors to create a world class economy.

  1. To prepare and implement a regeneration and economic development strategy.
  2. To lead and direct development projects and initiatives to deliver economic development and regeneration.
  3. To lead and represent the public sector organisation on all economic policy with regional and sub-regional partners, Local Enterprise Partnerships, Government Office Departments, private investors and developers.
  4. To represent the organisation and maximise opportunities to work jointly with partners to deliver major programmes to support social enterprises and to develop skills strategies.
  5. To develop and strengthen the organisations economic position within the region and sub-region and to ensure that the organisations interests are represented.
  6. To lead and direct the work of the Planning and Regeneration Service and to meet corporate strategies and targets within defined budgets.
  7. To work with partners and agencies to deliver a skilled and responsive workforce.
  8. To develop and assist the growth of social enterprises and the third sector.
  9. To provide support and assistance to under-performing business and lead with partners in responding to businesses closures.

The Successful Applicant

Educated to degree level or equivalent.

  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Management, postgraduate, or relevant professional experience.
  • Political sensitivity, understanding and awareness.
  • Strong business acumen and sound market and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to create transformational economic change.
  • Sound understanding of national economic development and regeneration, housing and planning priorities and legislation and the performance and standards and inspection criteria.
  • Influence and create effective relationships with national and regional government, major developers, investors, stakeholders, institutions, private investors, social enterprises and academic institutions.
  • Management and Leadership skills.
  • Experience of negotiation and influencing individuals and groups.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Government organisations and institutions European, national and regional economic strategy, policy and funding initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of collecting, analysing and interpreting complex data to make medium and long term decisions.
  • Strategic planning and delivery.

What's on Offer

6-12 month contract salary circa £45k.
