Job Description

  • Creating and conducting a University wide training needs analysis to identify system, business process and capability requirements.
  • Designing and delivering the New Core training plan including segmenting of stakeholders.
  • Ensuring training is tailored to user roles and profiles, associated business processes and policies.
  • Planning and designing high quality classroom and online training materials and plans, including how to guides, step by step system instruction manuals, videos, webinars and frequently asked questions.
  • Facilitating a Train the Trainer approach, enabling functional training leads, subject matter experts and Super Users to cascade training as required.
  • Delivering classroom and online training to stakeholders so users are able to carry out their roles and use the new system with confidence.
  • Working closely with the New Core Project Management Office, to ensure that the training plan is aligned with each project milestone and incorporated into the main Programme project plan.
  • Work with the Testing Manager to ensure consistency and quality in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) training.
  • Working with the IT Service Transition and Support Manager to provide training, help and support during deployment, go-live and the transition to business as usual.
  • Line managing the Training Administrator, with responsibility for their performance, general day to day management, and coordination and monitoring of their work.
  • Coordinating the activities of functional training leads ensuring consistent and timely training delivery.
  • Building excellent relationships with key stakeholders, including other University of Birmingham training professionals, to take full advantage of existing training networks and activities.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will come from a training background with a focus on an ERP implementation. Oracle would be an advantage. The role is focusing on the creating and conducting of training programmes therefore it would not suit somebody who has solely focused on delivery.

Experience in analysing the training needs of a large complex organisation and designing a suitable training plan and approach to address those needs.

  • Detailed knowledge of HR, finance, payroll and business intelligence software and experience in delivering specialist ERP systems training (ideally on Oracle Fusion Applications).
  • Expert knowledge of training approaches and techniques, particularly in relation to implementing ERP systems and train the trainer delivery.
  • An understanding of key finance, HR and payroll processes and business intelligence/ reporting outputs.
  • Outstanding written communication skills, with the ability to write high quality training materials for delivery through a range of media.
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience of delivering training to individuals and/or groups at all seniority levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate, listen and influence effectively.
  • Ability to manage a cross-functional training team.

What's on Offer

Basic salary between £38,896 to £46,414 with scope to grow up to £52,219
