Our client, Leyland Trucks is a UK manufacturing business, steeped in rich heritage and history; forming part of PACCAR, a market leading company owning 3 global truck brands . Based in Lancashire they employ over 1000 people and have established an enviable track record of profit .building c15,000 trucks a year for DAF and supplying parts across Europe. Technology is a critical enabler of their business strategy and they now require a proven and inspirational IT Manager to head up their UK operations.

Job Description

Reporting directly to the IT Director Europe, the UK IT Manager will align both the business and overall IT strategy to meet the needs of the business in the UK. The role will have responsibility for c£3million budget and lead a technology function of circa 30 people. The successful candidate will be a key member of the senior management team and, as such, will need to be proven at managing senior stakeholders and experienced in implementing successful technology strategies and transformation programmes.

Covering both Infrastructure and Business Systems, you will identify tactical and strategic opportunities and create a stable environment for current needs and future growth. The long term objective will be to transform IT into a truly global business partner, working with the global IT organisation to leverage technology resource for commercial gain. There is a drive in the organisation to encourage global collaboration and the UK IT Manager will be expected to provide engagement and support to both global IT and business initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

The role would be suitable for someone who aspires to be an IT director within a Fortune 500 company within the next 3-5 years. PACCAR employs c24,000 employees worldwide, with the global IT community around 700 strong. This role offers excellent career progression opportunities for talented individuals. Similarly, the role would be suitable for a Divisional Head looking for the next step in their career.

  • IT leader with a career trajectory that demonstrates increasing successes and responsibility
  • A track record of delivering complex and multiple projects on budget and to agreed timescales
  • Robust knowledge across infrastructure, service delivery and applications (large scale ERP environments, with Oracle being the most highly desired)
  • An excellent stakeholder relationship management approach
  • Proven experience of working within an international business, preferably with a global foot print
  • Experience of developing people and teams through inspirational leadership
  • Strong academic background and educated to degree level (1st Class or 2:1)
  • Manufacturing business process knowledge is preferred, but other sector experience will be considered
  • Post graduate qualifications such as MSc, MBA or PhD is preferred.
  • Professional qualifications (MSP, Prince2, Six Sigma) would be advantageous
  • Able to undertake regular business travel within Europe and to the US.
