Our client is a leading retail business with operations all over the UK. They are looking to expand an existing project to their logistics function and require expertise to help get the best out of their operation.

Job Description

As the Warehouse Project Manager you will have the opportunity to deliver a simpler, more agile and cost-effective supply chain, undertaking cutting-edge upgrades to its warehousing facilities.

You will be responsible for the operation, costs and service levels of all mechanical equipment deployed within the warehouses. You will provide technical leadership in the development and implementation of large-scale and complex automated warehouse solution design projects where you will have further opportunity to work with 3PL's and warehouse Automation / automated materials handling contractors.

You will be playing a huge part in the Distribution Centre upgrades. You will review and assess all technologies to be deployed within the concept solution and highlight the risks and opportunities of each; develop a transitional plan which will be the Solutions contact for 3PL service providers and 3rd party contractors.

  • Review and assess all technologies to be deployed within the concept solution and highlight risks and opportunities of each
  • Develop a floor by floor and chamber by chamber transitional plan (incl CAD drawings) that support deployment
  • Own and sign off all equipment installations and performance testing
  • Produce weekly exec summaries along with detailed weekly plans and status reports
  • Solution contact point for 3rd party contractors and the internal customer
  • Develop robust contingency and business continuity plans
  • Proactively manage all time-lines, and highlight risks and issues in a timely manner

The Successful Applicant

For the role of Warehouse Project Manager, the successful candidate must have the following skills and experiences:

  • 10-15 years experience in an automated warehouse environment, including at least 7 years leading development projects
  • Management of multi-site engineering and maintenance teams
  • Can demonstrate Commercial experience on CV
  • Can demonstrate an excellent H&S record and
  • Experience of AutoCAD would be beneficial
  • MS Office super user
  • Excellent and extensive warehouse engineering experience, gained in both a Retail and E-commerce environment
  • Proven successful technical leadership in managing large scale, multi-functional, multi year engineering deployments - mechanisation or automation within logistics frameworks, in an FMCG / Retail Logistics framework
  • Focused and determined leadership style - clear vision to lead a high performing function
