Job Description

You would be working in a small team within the Finance function of over 100 employees responsible for the accounting of their activity with other businesses that my client has partnered with. This division accounts for a significant value of trading each month and ensure all accounting is in line with recognized accounting standards.

The Wholesale accountant in this division will be accountable for getting the accounting right and ensuring tight financial control of two main areas within the business.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with the wider commercial business as well as colleagues in Central Finance and will gain an in depth understanding of this specific telecommunications finance function. There is also an expectation that the candidate will deputise for the Finance Manager in periods of absence.

While the responsibilities of this role are broad, you would be expected to:

  • Prepare and post month end journals, ensuring supported by clear and reconciled back up documents, paying particular attention to the supporting summary accrual schedules
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliation packs
  • Validate and reconcile invoices received against prior month`s accruals posted in the P&L and prepare the "Overs and Unders" report
  • Verify various national invoice packs, and champion any disputes therein.
  • Assist in the development of KPI reporting and maintain on a monthly basis
  • Take responsibility for compiling and updating end to end processes for the most critical activities undertaken by the team, ensuring they are fit for purpose
  • Undertake ad hoc reporting as requested by the Finance Manager
  • Mentor more junior staff when needed, who may be embarking on accountancy studies

The Successful Applicant

In order to be considered for this role, as a successful Wholesale accountant you would need to ideally be/ have:

- A qualification in finance

- Degree educated

- Intermediate Excel and Access skills

- Strong commercial and financial acumen

- Wholesale billing environment(nice but not essential)

- Oracle Financials or similar ERP system

- Experience of fast paced, changing corporate environment

Interpersonally, my client would be looking for a collaborative team member who has a proven track record to influence decision making, you would be approachable and enthusiastic and a self-starter with lots of attention to detail.

What's on Offer

The successful candidate will receive a £40,000 - £50,000 basic salary + benefits and bonus.
