Position Services Vice President

This role is accountable for corporate action processing within the Position Services team in Glasgow. As a Vice President, you will have responsibility for between 12 and 16 fte, reporting through two Directors. The team is currently responsible for all the processing for EMEA events which includes notification and research, reconciliation and clean-up of the corporate action event on key dates leading up to paydate, verification of the agent positions and payment and the releasing of the event. The team is also responsible for reconciling the event post-paydate and ensuring that all client, institutional, stockloan and depot positions are in correct in the books and records.
Due to high volumes of processing required & the high value of funds processed, the roles require a strong emphasis on internal and external client service & risk. These roles are varied and ever evolving, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to constantly expand their knowledge.

Duties will include:-

• Overall responsibility for managing functions creating an environment which fosters growth and development of people and ideas.
• Responsibility for risk management within the functions and escalation to Senior Management where appropriate
• Close liaison with other management teams both locally and globally
• Identify and implement business process improvements relating to functional responsibilities of own teams or wider operations division in response to changing client needs or business changes
• Ensure key targets and initiatives for group are met by agreed deadlines
• Liaise closely with other operational areas to develop strong working relationships.
• Review the functions progress against the SLA's in place. (service level agreement)
• Manage the budgets associated with the functions (headcount, expenses etc)
• Ensure that regulations are fully implemented and maintained within the function e.g. Sarbanes Oxley etc.
• Be a key communicator to the teams ensuring that communication flows down and up
• Be a strong communicator who can be a go to person for key clients and stakeholders within the firm


Success will be measured by the ability to process a growing business with minimal risk while improving processes in order to create capacity.

Who we're looking for
Experience of asset servicing in a financial services institution is preferred, otherwise broader experience in financial services operational management such as clearing, settlement, trade support or reconciliations.
• Numerate
• Knowledge of the Financial Services industry and Operational Risk.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel and Word) is important.
• Ability to step back from the detail and provide strategic direction for immediate team
• Can work well under pressure, lending control and order to a difficult or pressurised situation
• Can deal easily with multiple issue and tasks
• Proven management experience. Skills in delegation, organisation and people management to ensure the team can work effectively
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Ability to recognise risk issues and implications. Knows when to ask questions before taking action and when to refer problems or issues to the next level.
• Approaches all situations with positive outlook, energy and enthusiasm. Is a self-starter who takes individual ownership for work quality and improvement. Leads by examples working with drive and determination
• Shows initiative and creativity, taking a long-term approach to improvement and resolution of issues.
• Is self-confident, demonstrates integrity and business-appropriate behaviour.
