Internal Audit Trainee

Practice

Tyne & Wear

Permanent ⁄ £15000 - £18000

Updated April 30, 2012

We are currently looking to appoint an Internal Audit Trainee, with 12 - 18 months work experience in an internal audit role.

As an Internal Audit Graduate you will strive to aid organisations to meet their objectives by reporting on and assessing current processes and systems in order to minimise potential business risk.

You will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced team as you gain qualifications to ultimately conduct internal audits accurately. As a graduate trainee you have the ability to learn and adapt very quickly. From the start, you will be challenged by varied and interesting work while gaining hands on experience with colleagues working on live cases.

You will train towards the IIA qualification and will develop your auditing skills to deliver accurate reports within tight timelines. After the first 6 months, graduate Internal Auditors can expect to have begun studying for their professional qualification. You will be working semi-independently with a firm support network around you. A year on, you will be well underway with your qualification with a far greater knowledge of process. You will be working almost totally independently, running full investigations on your own. Your Senior Management team will be on hand should you need them. Within 2 years you will be part qualified and able to work almost entirely independently. Although there will be support available for you it will be rare that you will need to use it.

Graduate trainees are encouraged to undertake qualifications offered by the IIA (Institute of Internal Auditors). The initial qualification is the Diploma in Internal Audit which consists of 5 study modules with written exams at the end and two skill modules. The Diploma is the most relevant and helpful to the work you will be doing and takes about 2 years depending on how many modules are taken during each 6 month period. Once you have completed the Diploma you can then study for the Advanced Diploma or take a computer auditing course.

Who we're looking for
To succeed in this role you will have 12 - 18 months demonstrable experience within an Internal Audit role. You will require strong assessment skills in addition to having excellent people skills and confidence in talking to and meeting with people of all levels from ours and our clients' organisations. You will be exceptionally self motivated and highly organised as Internal Auditors often work autonomously, able to work to tight timescales and budgets. You will naturally pick up new information, especially relating to the set up of organisations. You will have a desire to be challenged and develop your skills and experience. You will thrive on challenge and diversity as no two days will be the same, while taking great personal satisfaction from producing reports in the specified deadline.

You will have a full driving licence, use of a car and be willing and able to travel as and when you are required to do so. It is expected that you may have to travel 1 ½ hours to visit a client on occasions, and some overnight stays may be required.
