Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will provide technical engineering input for all mechanical engineering activities of plant and equipment which must operate continuously 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, without downtime. As part of a dynamic team, you will be expected to learn and share your experiences. You need to be able to respond to working demands, including call out and working out of core hours as the job requires. We value people with initiative and forward thinking.
The role will involve the design and implementation of installations, modifications to existing plant and equipment and continuous improvement projects. Providing operations support, troubleshooting and problem solving are essential features of the role. This successful applicant will have accountability for the improvement of plant performance.

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have a well-organised, methodical work attitude, paired with a hands-on approach to fault finding and trouble shooting, proven decision-making skills and a strong desire to succeed. You should have some practical experience, preferably in a 24/7 production environment. You need to also have a good understanding of health and safety requirements in a production environment, be able to deal with outside contractors. You must have previous experience with planned preventive maintenance systems and materials handling equipment (conveying systems, loading/unloading and mobile plant). Ideally, you should also be familiar with natural gas distribution systems, water cooling systems, boilers, compressed air and high volume gas storage facilities. You will be capable of developing instrumental relationships with your customers - the people who operate the production process. You must be educated to Degree / BTEC / HND level in Mechanical Engineering and be able to work in parallel disciplines where appropriate.
