As a Head of Buying you will be tasked with delivering sales growth and achieving margin through effectively managing your business and buying team. Reporting to the Buying Director you will drive category performance through:
• Effective team management and development
• Product development and range building
• Trading activity
• Managing and developing the supply base
• Sales and margin performance
Who we're looking for
Dunelm is a customer focused, fast paced and evolving retailer. We are looking for people who will thrive on autonomy and are able to show a clear track record of making commercially based decisions at pace, which have in turn led to the growth of a retail business.
Within a recognised retailer you will have managed a buying team and delivered results through them. Demonstrating a proven track record to strike a balance between range strategy/leadership and being a hands on driving force with a passion for retailing. This experience will have ideally been gained within a home product area although exceptional candidates from other General Merchandise backgrounds will be considered. Your role will have also given you exposure to an International supplier base, which will have included far east and European travel. These trips will have involved direct dealings with a range of manufacturers.
As well as product, sourcing and commercial acumen, you'll need outstanding people skills to lead, motivate and develop your team. Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills are vital.
