The Financial Accountant will report to the European Financial Reporting Manager and act as entity controller for a number of legal entities including the large operations in Germany and Luxembourg. They will be responsible for the integrity of the P&L and Balance Sheet. This will involve key monthly analytics to aid internal US GAAP management reporting as well as production of quarterly board reports and regulatory returns as well as annual statutory accounts under local GAAP. Developing strong relationships with other parts of Finance and external auditors will be key to the role.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
• Ensure that all statutory accounting deadlines are met; review of year end statutory accounts including liaison with tax & regulatory capital teams as well external auditors,
• Completion of monthly management and quarterly local GAAP reporting packages ensuring that US to local GAAP adjustments are appropriate and documented
• Completion of regulatory returns including analytical review
• Provide added value commentary surrounding movements in the P&L and Balance Sheet on a legal entity level
• Be key point of contact for several legal entities; liaise with the local offices where required
• Actively searching for process improvements within the role
• Build relationships with cross functional teams to enhance working relationships and improve analytical review on legal entities
• Involvement in project work. Projects include uploading local GAAP into the General Ledger in order to streamline the statutory accounts process
Who we're looking for
• CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified with a strong academic record
• 1+ year post qualified experience; preferably in Financial Services would be preferred but not mandatory
• Experience in statutory account production and/or audit preferred
• Strong awareness of global accounting standards
• Ability to clearly and confidently communicate in Germanverbally and in written form, with all levels of the business
• Self starter, quick learner, team player, with an ability to adjust to change and the desire to take on responsibility is required
• Organised and methodical, possessing attention to detail, ability to work under pressure within very tight deadlines is a must
