The Huntsman Polyurethanes Teesside operation is a technically advanced high hazard petrochemical manufacturing facility. As a Control and Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in providing control engineering expertise and offer technical solutions to plant performance and reliability issues. Reporting to the Senior Instrument & Electrical Engineer, your role will involve a diverse and challenging portfolio of work and will include:
• Optimisation of existing control and manufacturing systems.
• Implementation of modern process control technology.
• Instrumentation and control systems support to the operations team.
• Capital project design, installation and commissioning.
In addition you will operate as a System Manager and take an overview of all safety critical programmable systems in accordance with Huntsman procedures. There will also be a strong drive towards continuous improvement, and a significant element of this role will be to use existing and identify new technologies to improve plant operational performance and reliability.
Who we're looking for
You will need to be degree educated in Instrumentation and Control Engineering (Ideally 2:1 and above) or a related discipline. Your degree should be accredited by the IET or InstMC and meeting the requirements for a chartership application. You should be working towards chartered status, if not already a chartered engineer.
The Control and Systems Engineers are required to have a good working knowledge of control engineering, control hardware and plant operation,and to be able to operate at sufficient depth to be able to determine the most appropriate method, level of study and resource required to deliver the role's objectives. We are looking for an innovative thinker, someone who can generate imaginative ideas and solutions in conjunction with a proactive approach to driving delivery.
