Fantastic opportunity to develop the VAT function as you look to take ownership for all aspects of global VAT. Initiallythe role will consist of undertaking VAT compliance (preparing and reviewing VAT returns, Intrastat and EC Sales Lists) for the UK VAT Group and also in those other countries where the UK is also VAT registered, ensuring the relevant deadlines are met and looking to use SAP to streamline the processes for meeting these obligations as much as possible. The individual will also be responsible for responding to ad-hoc VAT related questions/issues raised by the business and other members of the tax team in a timely fashion.
In addition to the compliance related work, the individual will also take a leading role in developing a pan-European VAT compliance model to meet the filing obligations of not only the group's UK companies but also all the European subsidiaries.
With the anticipated go-live of the pan-European compliance model, the nature of the role will change from being one of preparing compliance to that of reviewing all returns generated at a high level, understanding trends in the numbers and putting them into the context of the business at that time.

The ability to be able to effectively manage their time ensuring compliance deadlines are met, whilst responding to the ad-hoc questions and assisting in the project to centralise European VAT compliance will an important factor in being successful in this role.
