Our Client is recruiting for a financial accountant to join one of their corporate offices to manage the Japanese operations accounts. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who wishes to get themselves imbedded within an international organisation. It is mandatory that any applicant can speak fluent Japanese. The role can be based in either Scotland or the south of England.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
• Regional reference point for accounting information and controls
• Responding to day to day accounting queries
• Month end routines and journal submission
• Ensuring accuracy and integrity of accounting information in the Japanese ledgers. Ultimate responsibility for the data contained therein.
• Responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations including VAT, and assist with related peer review process.
• Liaison with other stakeholders (local Finance & Planning teams, Tax team, HR and other outsourced service providers)
• Preparation of all fiscal reports, including annual statutory accounts, for Japanese entities.
• Liaison with internal and external tax advisors regarding the preparation of the CIT returns for Japan.
• Liaison with local external auditors and successful completion of annual statutory audit in Japan.
• Administration of other taxes in Japan.
• Ad hoc project work as and when required
• Assist with statutory preparation and audit work for other countries as and when required.
• Day to day communication with office in Japan.
Who we're looking for
The Client is looking for a Regional Accountant who is fluent in Japanese to be responsible for local statutory and tax reporting in Japan. The role is to be based in one of the business's corporate offices in either the West of Glasgow or the South of England reporting to the Chief Financial Accountant.
Requirements for the position are
• Ability to work independently and prioritise workload as part of a geographically dispersed team
• Relevant Accounting qualification
• Prior relevant experience in preparation of Japanese financial statements and statutory audit work is mandatory
• Comprehensive knowledge of statutory requirements is mandatory.
• Prior relevant knowledge/experience of assisting with CIT and VAT return preparation.
• Good accounting investigation and analytical skills
• Good written and spoken business English and Japanese.
• Good IT skills
