Head of Retail

As the Head of Retail you will key responsibility will be develop and implement a retail strategy for the stores and online shop which maximises the commercial potential.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Creating and implementing a long term strategy and business plan for the development of the retail business, through internal and external consultation, research and competitive benchmarking and awareness of trends in high street retail, to establish a clear retail identity.
• Manage the overall trading performance of the retail business to ensure sales and profit targets are delivered
• Taking responsibility, working through the Buying Manager, for a forward programme of new product development, in line with the national strategy, to maximise the retail potential of each site and to ensure that all retail products are made of good quality consistent with the brand and prices are competitive.
• Through the Merchandising team, create stock management systems to manage purchasing and stock control to maximise margins and profitability, whilst also delivering high levels of availability.
• To take responsibility for the EPOS system and oversee its future development in a manner which delivers the best results for the business, working with colleagues in other departments
• Manage the warehouse contract
• Work with the Head of Events on the development of retail trading plans for maximising sales and profit performance
• Lead, develop and motivate the team to conduct regular performance reviews with direct reports

Who we're looking for
In order to be considered for this role as Head of Buying in the South West you will need:
• Experience of business planning and budget management and responsibility for operating budgets
• Proven track record of developing and implementing a strategy with demonstrable results
• Proven track record of leading product development and buying to deliver sales and profit targets
• Warehouse and logistic background
• Mail order or ecommerce background
• Proven experience of successfully leading and managing a team
• To be highly numerate with good analytical skills
• Creative flair and business development skills
• Knowledge of stock control systems both stock purchasing and replenishment
• Strong influencing and negotiations skills
• Strong, inspirational leaderships skills
• To be assertive and confident
