• To work with the Senior Buyer in negotiating net terms • To grow the profitability of the allocated categories • To work with Product Team/Channel teams to ensure there is a clear plan for evolving the range to meet the changing needs of the customer base. • To manage own supplier portfolio worth over £60m turnover • Responsibility for the negotiation for net terms for specified suppliers and product categories • Supporting the Senior Buyer / Product Director as required in all negotiations with suppliers within the categories and other categories • To negotiate incremental case related or other forms of funding to deliver the business AQR budget • To lead Product team and finance team relationship in the management of supplier cost/terms files and contractual obligations which are accurately administered, ensuring all commitments are invoiced on time and any purchasing variances are interrogated and corrected • To work with the New Product Listing Committee / Channel teams to develop the optimum range • To work with Insight Team and Product Managers to ensure all investment and activity is appropriately evaluated and reported back to suppliers in a timely and resource efficient manner; lead regular category performance reviews • To take ownership of the category and supplier contract management • To work with Logistical/Operational teams and Senior Buyer to identify business cost-shrinking opportunities• Ensure all relevant purchasing / commercial contact details are updated on relevant systems and data-bases
Who we're looking for
• Degree level educated or calibre • At least 2 years experience, using purchasing / negotiation skills. Preferably within the drinks category • IT - Advanced Excel, plus other ERP platforms
