Our clients Valuations team is one of the fastest growing areas in the business and has been identified as a strategic area of growth and investment. The London based team is looking to hire a candidate with valuation experience covering areas such as deal related (transaction/restructuring), financial reporting, intangible asset, fairness opinions and dispute valuations.
This valuations business is structured by industry segment and the Pharmaceutical team is looking for a valuation candidate with strong industry experience to meet the growing demand for our services.
Aside from the technical valuation skills we would expect the candidate to have good business and client relationship development capabilities, strong communication (both written and verbal), sound people management skills, the ability to manage teams and run jobs as the main client contact, and good excel modelling skills.
As one of the UK's market leading Valuations practice, the team delivers unparalleled valuation expertise assisting clients in understanding the value of a variety of assets including shares, intangible and tangible assets or entire businesses.They leverage the strength and expertise from the entire firm and are structured around discrete industry sectors which enables us to understand the drivers behind value creation and dilution.
Manager Responsibilities
• Carry out financial modelling assignments as part of the valuation process. You will therefore need to be proficient in Excel with solid financial modelling experience<BR>
• Take responsibility for specific parts of a project according to expertise, the size and complexity of the project, etc.
• Prepare detailed financial analysis of market comparable companies in the relevant industry sectors
• Prepare substantial written sections of the final valuation report which support the valuation conclusion. Examples include industry and market analysis, comparable company analyses and detailed valuation methodologies
• Support senior team members in the development of new business in the sector, including preparation of proposals and pitches, attendance at presentations and identifying opportunities for sell-on of existing work.
• Manage valuation projects independently and assume day-to-day client contact role
• Coaching junior staff in areas of technical valuations skills and industry knowledge and key value drivers

Who we're looking for
Essential skills:
• Deep experience of the pharmaceuticals or life sciences sectors
• Extensive relevant experience in business valuations or investment research
• Sound technical knowledge with the ability to build financial models from scratch
• Strong analytical skills but tempered with an ability to think laterally
• Ability to deliver quality written work
• Excellent communication skills - ability to present complex valuation issues in an clear and articulate way
• Ability to multi-task across multiple assignments and work under time pressure
• Coach and manage junior members of staff
• A demonstrable interest in valuations
• Commercial awareness
• Proven ability to sell services and develop business with clients
Desirable skills:
• Professional qualification. ACA (or equivalent) or CFA preferred, but others considered
• Undergraduate/post-graduate degree from a relevant scientific discipline (although not essential)
• Valuations experience in any of the following settings:
• Transactions and restructurings
• Intangible assets (e.g. in-process R&D, platform technology, patented technology, know how, customer relationships)
• Financial reporting (IFRS 3 and IAS 36)
• Disputes
