A challenging and exciting opportunity for an Production Manager has arisen at London Midland's depot in Soho. The role will lead and control the maintenance, cleaning and operations function to ensure the depot fleet is maintained, repaired and cleaned at the correct frequencies to meet business activities. Reporting to the Depot Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management and leadership of a team of 30-40 personnel, ensuring that all activities are completed in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner, whilst fulfilling customer requirements, achieving agreed budgetary objectives, in this 24/7, continuous operation.
Key deliverables for the Production Manager will be:
• Control all aspects of the operation of the depot on a shift by shift basis
• Control and direct the Team leaders and Supervisors to ensure that required outputs are met in terms of terms of availability and quality of work to provide a reliable and efficient service to customers
• Assisting in the development and management of the business' capital investment pipeline, to drive the continuous improvement, the continuing sustainability and competitiveness of London Midland's operations
• Safety, Health and Environment - providing proactive leadership and management to minimise hazards and to reduce risks across the Production operations
• To participate in the development of depot colleagues by conducting personal reviews, delivering emerging needs.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will be an ambitious individual, with a can-do attitude and a proven track record of leading within a production environment. You will have a high level of ability to communicate, motivate and deal successfully with people. You will have relevant line management experience and will be a competent leader, with a focus on developing people, an open communicator and a driver of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have experience in the rail industry however given the current demand in the sector, candidates with experience in any industrial manufacturing environment will be actively considered, including aerospace, automotive or general manufacturing.
