Reporting in to the operations manager you will take full responsibility for the transport office for a leading fresh food logistics organisation in Kent. Managing a team of transport planners your remit will also include the management of a mixed (dual temperature) fleet of 60 trailers and 30 tractor units that are shared across a national network and 40+ drivers. Your role will be days based on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern and you will work closely with your colleagues on shift, the operations manager and the other managers within the warehouse and distribution function which include pick pack, inbound and dispatch.
You will manage third party drivers and contractors and be charged with strategically improving vehicle utilisation and route optimisation though analytical planning using a bespoke system and ensuring on time in full delivery supplying fresh food to major fmcg retail operations across the UK.
Who we're looking for
Based in Kent this opportunity requires a talented individual with a skill set including:
• A proven track record in temperature controlled distribution ideally within fresh food logistics or for a major fmcg retail operation.
• A high level of transport planning acumen and geographical knowledge you will have the ability to adapt to a live and dynamic, bespoke planning system tailored to the operational needs of the business.
• A communicative man manager, you will be required to lead by example, developing a highly skilled team with the ability to lead from the front, influence senior stake holders within the business and have a strong client facing presence.
• A high level of commercial awareness with the foresight to realise how your strategy will impact the wider financials and strategy of the organisation.
• Ideally you will have your National CPC
