An exciting opportunity has arisen in the internal audit team for a leading name in insurance due to the previous job holder moving internally. Senior Audit Managers are responsible in this team for leading audits and planning the methodology for the year whilst directly managing a number of direct reports. Their input is essential in developing and motivating the team as well as ensuring that the value add of the team on the business is high. Therefore, only excellent candidates will be considered. The successful candidate's key responsibilities will be to:
Manage the delivery of audits (approx 35% time spent on activities relating to this):
· Manage portfolio of audits in a specific business area
· Manage resources within own area
· Liaise with other Senior Audit Managers in cluster and Audit Partners on effective use of resources across audits
· Meet team leaders of the audits they manage to brief them on new audits, update and close audits
· Review and sign off key audit documentation submitted by the team leader
· Review audit reports and liaise with senior audit management as necessary
Manage People (approx 20% time spent on activities relating to this):
· Provide coaching and development to audit team
· Provide feedback to audit team leaders and direct reports on quality of work
· Carry out development and 1:1 meetings and appraisal reviews with direct reports
· Contribute to pay-review discussions
Relationship Management (approx 20% time spent on activities relating to this):
· Regularly meet stakeholders to build on-going relationships with them
· Liaise within the businesses to understand their strategic objectives and business priorities
· Engage with the business to resolve problems and ensure the smooth running of audit activities
· Carry out update meetings with senior management in the business
· Meet internal stakeholders to address cross-cluster priorities
Support the Audit Partner (approx 15 % time spent on activities relating to this):
· Contribute to the deliverables prepared by the Audit Partner e.g. Opinions, Monthly Control reports, Audit Plan.
Management and knowledge sharing activities (approx 10% time spent on activities relating to this):
· Participate in management meetings, GIA conferences.
· Participate in knowledge sharing events to promote own and others' business
Who we're looking for
Experience:
Either audit experience or relevant knowledge of an Insurance business (e.g. specific experience of having audited Insurance or specific knowledge of Insurance products and industry).
Relationship management experience in the financial industry
Key Skills & Knowledge:
Business specific product / technical knowledge (gained within the business or externally)
Highly developed knowledge of financial services business processes
Knowledge of audit techniques
Knowledge of Group Audit methodology
Knowledge of Group Audit IT systems
· Strategic overview of the specific business area and related risks
