Senior Principle Design Engineer - Diesel

Our client MAHLE Powertrain are looking to appoint an exceptional Senior Principle Design Engineer for the Diesel Division. Reporting to Head of Diesel Product Group, this role will coordinate and supervise projects undertaken by MAHLE Powertrain requiring the use of Diesel specific Design and Verification. This is an excellent opportunity to join an exciting company at the forefront of the advancement of IC engine technologies.

This role will involve:
- Technical Responsibility for all Diesel projects with support from Head of Product Group Diesel.
- Internal R&D project management (reporting to the Head of Projects for external Projects).
- Planning and initiating R&D projects and and project proposals .
- A high level of customer interaction, including applications for external funding opportunities.
- Technical paper coordination and preparation and delivery of technical presentations.
- Preparing and approving presentations and technical reports.
- Defining, modifying, implementing and authorising processes within the product group.
- Provide support to engineers and and section leaders.
- Keeping up-to-date with latest developments, technologies and trends in Diesel engine sector.
- Supporting business development opportunities, in conjunction with the business development function.
- Liaising with external organisations as required.
- Actively promote, support and engage in continuous improvement policies and ensure full sustainability of these projects through best operational practices.
- Be instrumental in playing a key role in the Diesel division and driving the business forward through your exciting ideas for existing and new products.
- University liaison and supervision.

Who we're looking for
The right candidate will:
- Be Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or in a similar subject - A postgraduate qualification / Chartered status would be an advantage.
- Have managed engineers at a minimum of supervisory level within a diesel engine development or research environment.
- Have a proven track record in a relevant Diesel environment and in the field of Powertrain engineering gained within an OEM, Tier 1 or consultancy environment.
- Have a track record in project management with excellent presentation skills.
- Have a demonstrable knowledge of Design and Verification of Diesel engines and the according toolset.
- Be an excellent communicator - both written and verbal - at all levels, demonstrating the ability to influence and negotiate where necessary.
- Have clear evidence of effectively supervising a team and lead by example with your problem solving skills.
- Recognise and appreciate customer requirements, implementing change when required.
