Reynolds Porter Chamberlain are a leading litigation and transactional firm, among the most highly rated by clients and lawyers alike. An opportunity has arisen for a hands on, pro-active Finance Manager to assume the day-to-day management of the Management Information team. You will assist the Head of Finance with operational support to the wider Finance team by working collaboratively with the other team leaders. This is a challenging role for a team player with a strong analytical and commercial approach to ensure focussed and effective financial management and controls operate across the Finance function.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Leading a team of 3
• Manage the preparation and delivery of management information including annual budgets and forecasts, monthly and annual management accounts, LLP statutory financial statements
• Working with the Head of Finance to develop and deliver a comprehensive programme of focussed analysis of business performance and profitability reporting for individual practice groups, clients and work types with analysis and commentary.
• Preparation and submission of all relevant statutory and regulatory accounts returns, VAT Returns and other tax accounting requirements
• Liaison with clients and external agencies e.g. HMRC, banks, suppliers and auditors
• Assist with the authorisation of bank payments, supplier invoices & staff expenses
• Project work will include: working with Heads of Legal departments to focus on key profitability drivers, tendering and pricing models and other ad hoc financial models as required in support of business plans and forecasts
• Act as the reference point for internal and external reporting when called upon by the Project Management Office and participate in debate regarding future developments and strategic direction of the systems
• Work closely with project managers and the business analyst to drive projects supporting the Firm's business plans
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will be professionally qualified (ACA,ACCA,CIMA) with recent relevant experience within a professional partnership, ideally a law firm but not essential. Key attributes are:
• Commercial aptitude
• Strong team leader; energetic and enthusiastic
• Excellent analytical and financial skills with keen attention to detail
• Positive and flexible approach, able to work well under pressure, prioritise work effectively and meet strict deadlines
• Highly PC literate with strong systems skills; Excel required and Aderant (or similar) preferable
• First class written and verbal communication skills; be able to communicate effectively with lawyers, support staff, suppliers and other third parties
• Confident manner and personal impact to command the respect of partners
