A vacancy has arisen at the Senior Actuarial Manager level to lead the Economic Capital Reporting Team. This is a high profile role, reflecting the increased focus on economic capital reporting measures over recent years. With the implementation of the Solvency II regime on 1 January 2013, Economic Capital will become the key measure of solvency capital within the UK Life industry.
This role involves leading the production team through a regular timetable of economic capital reporting under the current regulatory regime (ICA and Realistic Balance Sheets). Additionally, through close liaison with the Solvency II programme, a number of Solvency II dry run exercises are scheduled. Once established in post, the successful candidate will offer expert advice on both economic capital reporting processes and methodology.
The key responsibilities of the role are:
•Leadership of a team of 20 people, ensuring effective people management and communication to key stakeholders
•Production of ICA Results for submission to Group and the FSA
•Production of Realistic Balance Sheet Results in respect of the WP Funds, as part of the consolidated Group IFRS and MCEV Reporting as well as the UKLAP FSA Regulatory Returns
•Monthly Solvency Monitoring of Pillar Two Capital position
•Contributing to the Corporate Planning process, including Stress and Scenario Testing
•Production of Solvency II Information for exercises such as Internal Model Approval Process, ORSA Dry Run, Standard Formula Balance Sheets
•Working with Group to develop and test the Algo system - the internal model which will replace S2EC
•Asset Liability Management Support, including; calculation of unit prices for the PAF, BRAF and Guarantee Funds, productions of MI in relation to Derivative contracts, monitoring of Equity Backing Ratios and Hedge positions and calculation of Asset Share Investment returns
Who we're looking for
•A qualified Actuary probably with several years experience which is relevant to the role. A part qualified actuary, with significant relevant experience will be considered. Ideally a Senior Actuarial Manager
•Expert knowledge and understanding of actuarial principles, formulae and methodology
•Strong knowledge of the actuarial reporting systems and processes
•Experience of leading actuarial teams and developing skills within those teams
•Track record of major delivery (e.g. projects, product launches, financial reporting) to tight timescales
•Excellent prioritisation and planning skills
