Senior Economists

Senior Economists will have opportunities to work on regulatory policy development in a range of areas, and will be expected to contribute to the organisation's key roles:
• Advising on methodology and ensuring the quality of economic analyses of policy undertaken within the organisation, both for internal decision-making and for the organisation's published consultation papers
• Undertaking more complex economic analysis on behalf of policy teams
• Advice (and training) for policy makers and senior management on the application of microeconomics to the decisions they need to make
• Contribute to the Department's programme of high-quality policy-relevant research
• Representing the organisation to external stakeholders, for example on the impacts of the organisations regulation on costs or on market behaviour.

Who we're looking for
The successful applicant for this position will need to have demonstrated high levels of analytical skills and expertise in microeconomics, normally including holding a postgraduate qualification in economics or related discipline. Just as important for the role are the ability to communicate effectively and manage a range of working relationships, good judgement and a proactive approach. Expertise in econometrics, in industrial organisation, economic regulation or competition policy or in the economics of information or of financial markets is also valuable.
