• Category Buyer - Chilled / fresh is required looking after Dairy, Eggs, Cheese, Butter, Yoghurt, Fruit and Veg, Bacon and Fruit Juice for Dairy Crest and Milk & More based in Surrey. Working with Michael Page Buying and Merchandising.
To category manage the business performance of a designated product range to meet the company's financial & marketing strategies
To be accountable for the designated categories, ensuring best cost price, quality & continuity of supply
To drive & enhance long term internal & supplier relationships

Select, source and price products to ensure margin growth opportunities realised & deliver competitive advantage for Dairy Crest
Manage the ongoing relationship with suppliers to deliver highly professional commercial relationships and develop key strategic partnerships for the future commercial success of the business
Propose the promotion programme within the varying market categories.
Develop & manage the relationship with Internal Supplies
Source Secondary income opportunities to agreed targets
Understand the market for the defined product areas.
Visit suppliers, competitors and depots to monitor and influence the quality, and offer of the product range.
Ensure the quality of all products in the range meets specifications, using the resources of and working closely with Technical.

• Background in a Trading function for a multiple food retail company
• Excellent negotiation ability
• Excellent man-management and communication skills
• Excellent Relationship management capability(internal & external)
• A proven track record in category & project management
• A solid understanding of supply chain processes

What's on offer
£45,000 - £48,000 plus car, plus 10% bonus, PMI, Pension and Holiday days 25 plus bank holidays
