The Financial Controller will be responsible for all elements of financial reporting for the London and Brussels offices whilst managing the finance team. The role will involve not only covering Financial reporting but also working with partners and the senior management team around interpretation and analysis of the numbers and wider business.
Essential responsibilities for this role will include, but be in no way limited to:
• Management of the finance team including all cashiering, credit control and billings matters
• Key responsibility for all billing and credit control, ensuring that cash flow is correct and bad debts don't occur.
• Oversee compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules, including managing SARS audit process
• Responsible for preparation of the accruals London LLP financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, UK GAAP and the year end LLP audit.
• Assist with preparation of accruals financial statements for other office locations in accordance with local statutory regulations as required.
• Preparation of Monthly Management Accounts reports.
• Monthly reconciliation of various legal entities' Balance Sheet accounts in compliance with firm policy and statutory requirements.
• Responsibility for all treasury and trust accounts as well as local banking relationships.
• International liaison on Firm and Partner income tax issues
• Liaison with Local Accounting Firms on Tax and Audit issues
• Prepare Accounts & Annual Return Filings.
• Responsible for VAT/TVA filings and compliance.
• Responsible for processing and posting the monthly payroll, then reconciling compensation data.
• Responsible for calculating and funding employee pension contributions.
• Liaison with US Finance team on status, issues and escalations.
• Back-up for other office financial activities (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing)
• Management of payroll and acting as escalation point for any issues.
• Ad-hoc projects and financial analysis including start-ups.
Who we're looking for
• Experience working in a US law firm preferable
• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification an advantage
• Experience of IFRS, US GAAP and UK GAAP
• Understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules
