As the Eurotunnel business grows and diversifies, so the legal function needs to keep pace and, for this reason, the organisation is looking to appoint a Senior Legal Advisor to provide additional support to various departments across the business.
Responsibilities will include:
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial contracts for the business (including, but not limited to public procurement, sales and marketing, distribution and agency agreements and T&Cs);
• Advising all areas of the business on all manner of commercial and operational legal issues, including providing strategic legal advice on dispute resolution, competition and commercial law, data protection and compliance; and
• Proactively identifying legal risks to the business and developing strategies to mitigate the risks
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate should be a UK qualified solicitor or barrister with circa 5 years post qualification experience in commercial law and will live within easily commutable distance of the UK terminal in Folkestone, or be willing to relocate. Working with the Legal Director to establish a modern managed Legal services function, you will be a key member of the bi-national legal department. You will be challenging existing practices and finding better ways to articulate the value of the function to internal customers across the group. In order to achieve these goals you will need to be a pragmatic, gregarious individual with exceptional communication skills and the confidence to work closely with clients and colleagues at all levels. You will demonstrate a sensible approach to problem solving that takes into account the company's business priorities.
About our client
Eurotunnel is the commercial entity that manages, maintains and operates the Channel Tunnel, from Folkestone in the UK to Coquelles in France. Eurotunnel runs shuttle trains carrying passenger and commercial freight vehicles and also allows the running of 3rd party passenger and freight trains through the tunnel infrastructure. Last year alone, Eurotunnel shuttle trains carried over 1 million trucks and 2 million passenger vehicles and facilitated the transportation of over 1m tonnes of freight and 9.5m Eurostar passengers through the Channel Tunnel. Eurotunnel has also recently extended its activities into national rail-freight services in the UK and France.
