You will report directly to the Mill Manager and will have indirect but regular working relationships with the Production Managers, Environment and Quality Manager, the Health & Safety Manager and the Group Project Manager.You will cover all aspects of maintenance and engineering project management, through the supervisor(s) or directly as appropriate. A particular emphasis will be placed on developing the personnel under charge, relating to Health and Safety & Environmental culture, quality of workmanship, skills assessment and the like. You will lead in the development and continuous improvement of preventative maintenance programmes, efficient and cost effective breakdown response and quality service. As other functions on site are developed, improved maintenance planning and reduction in downtime as well as budgeting and cost control will become integral to the job.
Who we're looking for
You will have a proven track record in Engineering Management. This will have been gained in work within a process industry where there is a mixture of heavy mechanical plant and automated control systems. Formal education to degree or diploma level or by membership of an appropriate professional body is desirable. You will have to demonstrate their abilities in communication skills, particularly with subordinates, in an honest, credible and confident manner. Your leadership style should be firm but democratic. An ability to balance what is reasonable and practicable with a requirement to meet external demands is essential. You will be expected to operate within a well-established and experienced team and bring to that team enthusiasm and motivation to make things happen.
