Senior Economist

The Senior Economist for this trade association based in London will be responsible for developing and promoting the public's understanding of the relevant industries, role in the economy. Other responsibilities will include:
-Take responsibility for developing policy areas to support productivity and competitiveness of industry.
-consulting with members and stakeholders.
-Work with external affairs team to develop relationships appropriate external agencies and government officials.
-Communicate information on the state of industry and organisations policy positions.
-Produce documents to support organisations representational activities in the economics field. These will include regular reports on economic and business trends and prospects; an annual 'budget proposal' to the UK Government; and occasional documents on specific topics.

-Develop responses to government enquiries and consultations.
-Contribute to the work of policy committees and regional council network.
-Represent organisation in the media on economic issues.

The right candidates will be able to demonstrate the following essential requirements:
- Lobbying and policy experience<BR>-Economics degree
-Well-developed written and oral communications skills
-The ability to write clearly and concisely and for a range of different readers
-Ability to relate to contacts at all levels and to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
-Ability to effectively manage own time and work
-Ability to meet deadlines
-A strong policy thinker, with good influencing skills and the ability to develop relationships with the people that we are seeking to influence.
