Buying Manager Food

Roles & Responsibilities
The Buying Manager's major responsibilities will be as follows:
• Overall responsibility for ensuring range within a category is optimised to customer and matches business strategy
• Major supplier account management and negotiation on all major deals
• Sign-off on major media plans within area
• Working with Own Brand team to drive growth of Brand
• Co-ordinating promotional and media activity, both within team and with other Buying teams and the Marketing team

Buying Managers will be required to work with Assistant Buyers to implement and achieve targets agreed by the Head of. Buying managers will also be required to support the roll out of new frameworks, processes, systems and reporting for range, ranging, promotional funding, category management and media selling. Specific aims in this regard will include (but not be restricted to):
• Margin maintaining promotions within their category
• Hitting funding targets within their category
• Building best in market ranges vs. category specific competitors
• Rolling out the category and margin review process

Buying Managers will also work with Assistant Buyers for their category and through this resource will be responsible for:
• Website category layout and merchandising
• All customer-facing product data
• Product search
• Pricing
• Promotions
• Sku/range management

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate for the role would ideally be able to demonstrate:
• Educated to Degree Level (or equivalent) with a minimum of 2:1 (Preferable)
• Proven experience in a trading or buying team
• A strong record of supplier negotiation
• Experience of category management practice
• Some experience/knowledge of at least some of the food ornon-food sectors within the category
Buying Managers will need to show a high level of competency in the following areas:
• Communication skills (written and verbal)
• Interpersonal skills
• Problem-solving (both commercial/negotiation and process-related)
• Coaching and man-management
