A Financial Controller opportunity has arisen in this successful, Kings Lynn based manufacturing business. Part of a significant and highly profitable international group, the business is experiencing growth based on sound strategic principles. The role has arisen through successive promotions of the current incumbent, and enjoys autonomy to support the business commercially, and to plan, coordinate and administer the business unit accounting function.
Providing key support to the Business Unit General Manager -and divisions including Sales and Marketing -this is a position in which the successful incumbent will affect the business commercially, enjoying the autonomy to add real value. With this in mind, you will be interpersonally strong and capable of operating across the business, providing analysis to enable strategic decisions and driving change to increase profitability.
The successful incumbent is responsible for overseeing the HR function and also for overseeing the IT function. The business will be embarking on a system replacement. Management of large scale IT implementations would be advantageous.
Responsibilities and Expectations Include:
1. Coach and develop people for a strong team in the future. Challenge and motivate the team.
2.Internal reporting analysis - be proactive in identifying problems/opportunities and recommend solutions. Look beyond the numbers and identify why or where situations are occurring.
- Reporting on accounts (this year versus plan and prior year)
- Calculating and reporting Financial Outlook on a monthly basis
- Audit strategy (market, operational, etc.) changes
- Optimise Working Capital management with particular focus on:
• Overdue receivables
• Inventory Months on Hand
• Inventory Grading Reserves
3.Operating Plan - be involved in all aspects of the production of the annual plan.
4. Identify complexity in the business - distribution, purchasing, product, process, administration, etc. and recommend simplification ideas.
5. Internal controls - maintain proper control procedures and ensure that they are operating effectively.
6. Improve communication throughout the organization (upward and downward)
7. Be a part of all major financial decisions within the business unit.
8. Analyse all major decisions to ensure the Return on Investment requirements are met.
9. Above all be a team player, operate with a high work eth
Who we're looking for
• A Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience of managing medium sized finance teams.
• Must possess excellent presentation and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
