Project Director

Project Management Services - Energy, Nuclear and Process

Manchester

Permanent

Updated May 11, 2012

Due to expansion our client is looking to supplement their existing senior management team and recruit a Project Director into the Energy and Process Division of Costain. Reporting into the Operations Director of the division the successful candidate will have full accountability for the delivery of highly complex projects and will lead either a single project or portfolio of work. The role will be focussed on the fundamental aspects of delivery; people performance, project performance and stakeholder management. Within each of these components you will provide leadership, effective management and a clear vision. As the figurehead for each project you are responsible for, it will be your responsibility to identify issues at an early stage and formulate an appropriate plan to ensure resolution. You will be the primary point of contact for your client and will be responsible for developing a productive business relationship. Influencing and managing relationships within the client organisation, partner organisations and across the Costain Group will all be required. As a senior member of the management team you will be expected to contribute to the divisions' broader strategic outlook and take a mid range view on the project(s) you are responsible for. The establishment on each project of a predictive culture will be required where risk is controlled, commercial goals are achieved and financial expectations are fulfilled.

Who we're looking for
As a degree qualified (engineering or similar numerate discipline) professional you will be a natural leader with a clearly demonstrable record of achievement within a leading Engineering Contractor. You will have significant experience in the delivery of high value, highly complex EPC or EPCM projects in hazardous environments where a high degree of regulation is in place. With well developed stakeholder management skills you will have the ability to engage, influence and advise at board level of a leading blue chip business. Your ability to form and maximise effective business relationships will be central to your success and will be a key measurement of progress in this role. Able to identify areas of risk on projects you will be able to implement solutions quickly. As a natural and resourceful problem solver you will be able to bring incisive analysis and lateral thinking to ensure innovative solutions are always delivered. As a strong and confident leader you will be comfortable as the focal point on highly visible and technically demanding projects. You will be highly organised, a natural motivator and be able to bring a high degree of personal energy and enthusiasm to the projects you are responsible for.
