To pro actively grow the VAT practice and provide a specialist and comprehensive VAT advisory service to all business clients to minimise their VAT liabilities and compliance issues, and to identify tax planning opportunities. Assume a leading role in the development of the VAT team to grow the business through marketing events, and assisting with the expansion of the VAT client base.
Main Responsibilities
Undertake sales and marketing activities to win VAT assignments from clients and targets, including attending and leading seminars where relevant. Provide advice and support on compliance and planning issues to clients, regularly maintaining contact and making visits as appropriate. Liaise directly with clients, referrers and intermediaries regarding compliance work, carrying out reviews on-site where relevant. Continually research new products and services and ensure knowledge is kept up-to-date with VAT legislation and procedures. Financial management including billing within given time-scales and according to the firm's procedures. Responsible for preparing and agreeing budgets with partners and clients and ensuring these are met within agreed time-scales. Line management responsibility for two team members, one at Executive level and one administration support level. Conduct appraisals and ensure general development. Adhere to the firm's management policies. To be aware of the wide range of Grant Thornton services and to spot opportunities to sell those services to clients. To be involved in office marketing events when appropriate. To attend training in courses as identified in order to develop both technical and personal skills and keep records for CPD purposes.
Who we're looking for
Maths and English Language at GCSE or equivalent IT literate - able to produce spreadsheets, letters and reports. CTA/AIIT/ ATT/ ACA/ ACCA qualified
