The Head of Corporate Financial Management is a newly created role and reports to the Deputy Director of Finance for the Trust.
This newly created position sits at the heart of the finance function within the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. During a time of significant change within the NHS, the Royal Berkshire has created a first class finance structure to meet the challenges that lie ahead. As Head of Corporate Financial Management you will support a number of finance business partners out in the business while managing a highly talented team to deliver a sector leading service to the Trust and its customers.

This role will require the successful candidate to undertake and improve the following areas of finance:
Consolidation of the monthly management reporting including forecasting and associated analysis.
• Preparation of the monthly Director of Finance Report with insightful, intelligent and commercial commentary.
• You will be providing commercial and financial support to the Estates Director. This includes assisting them to achieve their annual plan by providing complete, robust and effective internal controls as well as acting as a finance business partner.
• You will be responsible for coordination and running of the annual budget process for the organisation as well as the submission of the annual financial plan.
• You will be providing financial coaching for non financial managers in order to improve the flow of information and communication between functions.
Who we're looking for
• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
• You will hold an accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or ICAEW)
• Substantial management accounting experience at a management level in a large and complex organisation.
• An excellent understanding of accounting processes and audit requirements
• Proven experience of leading change and improvements in accounting processes in a complex accounting environment
• Proven experience of staff management in a changing environment
• Experience of equivalent work within an environment governed by 'profit and loss' rather than cash accounting systems.
• Excellent oral and written with senior management & non-financial staff inside/outside the Trust.
• A proven track record of motivating staff and ensuring team objectives/deadlines are met.
• The ability to influence budget managers whilst retaining independence and objectivity.
• A strong eye for accuracy and attention to detail.
• The ability to work under pressure to set and ensure strict timetables are met.
• Strong analytical skills to enable analysis of complex financial information.
• An advanced practical ability in use of Computer systems and applications
