Reporting to a Divisional Managing Director the successful candidate will have full accountability for the profit and loss and full responsibility for the delivery of ambitious growth targets for this recent acquisition. You will be expected to build an effective business to business web offering, increasing on-line traffic, capturing and converting new customers, retaining existing customers and ultimately achieving increased revenue. You will drive sales by formulating a specific and targeted approach to each market sector whilst ensuring the correct system is in place to take full advantage of all enquiries. Constantly considerate of competitive activity you will be expected to identify strategic new business targets and play a full part in their capture. As the General Manager of this business you will have direct responsibility for third party supplier relationships and ensure that service levels are in line with group expectations as well as fulfilling the expectations of your customer base. All procurement, pricing and contractual decisions are yours and your ability to make strategic commercial decisions will be central to your success in this role. With the business expected to quadruple in size over a three year period, robust and effective support functions such as credit control and customer service must be developed and maintained.
Who we're looking for
Degree qualified, (encompassing either IT, computing, Multimedia Marketing or similar) you will have a demonstrable track record of success within an e-commerce environment. Experience in B2B/B2C e-Commerce fulfilment will be essential. You will have a strong track record of success in an internet sales driven environment and have well developed management skills (ideally from managing sales teams in a business services environment) You will have full profit and loss experience in your career to date and be conversant managing all facets of a business. A solutions driven leader you will be able to make good commercial decisions based on your own analysis of a situation and ensure that the business realises good levels of profit as a result. Driving growth across distinct and separate sales areas you will need to have the appropriate experience to provide vision, direction and motivation, creating a cohesive unit with clarity of purpose. As a character you must display the passion, energy and personal commitment to grow this business and realise the potential to its fullest extent. Your communication skills will be excellent and enable you to engage effectively across all levels of business both internally and externally.
About our client
Our client is a division of one of the UK's leading Business Services providers that boasts a turnover of circa £400m and employs over 5000 people. The division is responsible for the supply of business to business services to a broad cross section of customers ranging from major corporate accounts to 'one off' buyers from the SME community. Following a recent acquisition our client now has the foundation to build an exciting e-commerce offering and is looking for a General Manager to develop the proposition and take it to market. The targets for this new business venture are considerable with growth expected to be achieved both organically and via acquisition. Operating as a fully functional, autonomous business but with the support and resources of a major plc to assist there is significant potential in this role and business venture that could be realised by an individual with the ambition and strategic foresight to match our client.
