Service Designer

The Service Designerwill beresponsible for:

• Working with Business Analysts to understand requirements and design solutions that move towards the target Architecture.
• Working with Development Partners to ensure that the solution is built and delivered within agreed standards.
• Understanding the implementation technology so as to be able to shape design and push back on requirements or suggest alternative solutions
• Documenting designs in the Solution Model, Logical Data Model, High Level Design and ensuring Low Level Design matches what is required.
• Ensuring that designs address functional and non-functional requirements, working with relevant Subject Matter Experts.
• Communicating effectively with their Project Manager, other Service Designers and Development Partner(s). This requires a good level of verbal and written communication.
• Estimating effort for different project phases.
• End to end delivery of solution from requirement analysis, technology selection, high level design, low level design, development lead, integration, delivery and support.
Within the first year, the key challenges and complexities of role will include:
• Clear solution design to ease integration pain.
• A number of interdependent projects that run in parallel and will be delivered at different times. Communication and transparency are key.
• Development is typically undertaken by offshore development, which requires strong design definition, well defined standards, effective communication and regular monitoring.
• Understanding consolidated business requirements from many stakeholders and translating these into solutions that are acceptable to all.
• Understanding the technology mix required for delivering their project.
• Understanding how their project fits into the overall solution.
• Contributing to the ongoing evolution of the Target Architecture.

Education & Experience:
• Software development background.
• Successfully delivered large complex projects.
• Consistently delivers within the deadlines set.
• Team player, able to effectively work with people at all levels in the organization.
• Able to perform in virtual, cross-functional, cross-cultural environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and preparation, mastery of English language and grammar.
• Good logical software design
• Good estimation skills.
