International Greetings Plc
Northern Home Counties
Permanent ⁄ £60000 - £70000
Updated March 11, 2012
This is a high profile role, operating as part of a small, versatile and pivotal central team. Performance requirements are demanding as there is an exciting agenda. One needs to think carefully but then execute at pace. The small central team is at the heart of the business's corporate agenda and this role especially so. The successful candidate will work with banks and advisor, prepare papers for main board consideration and liaise directly with our business FDs and MDs as well as the Group CEO & Chairman.
This role is about optimising the taxation and interest elements of the Group's P&L, relative to risk, whilst also assuring continuity of access to capital so that our businesses can survive, grow and thrive. You will:
• Define, execute, renew and maintain control over the group's access to capital
• Identify issues, recommend policy, manage and control treasury and taxation matters globally, reporting in an appropriate manner to the Executive and to the Board
• Liaise with local Finance Directors, banks and advisors at home and overseas to ensure that Group strategy and policy in the fields of treasury and taxation is well defined, understood and appropriately executed
• Understand foreign exchange and other treasury risks and be familiar with the main tools to manage and report these
• Work with the senior finance team centrally and in the businesses to define plans, scenarios, sensitivities and financial models
• Assist in decision making, providing concise and timely information along with well-judged recommendations
Although expertise in all aspects of taxation is not required you should be reasonably current with the main international taxation issues and have a well-tuned radar for when to seek specialist advice.
Who we're looking for
• You will be a qualified graduate accountant (ACA/CIMA preferred) with an excellent academic record, first time passes and blue chip and/or Big 4 experience. You will probably also be AMCT or ATII qualified, but certainly you will be familiar with taxation and especially treasury matters
• You will have a good understanding and ideally some experience of other general areas of finance outside the role's direct technical requirements so as to provide common ground with the wider finance leadership and versatility within a small team. You need to understand the effect of your treasury and taxation decisions on the profit and loss, balance sheet and earnings per share
• Although there will be others in the team performing more of the daily routines and providing the analytical modelling, you will nevertheless have strong modelling and certainly model reviewing skills of your own as well as a general familiarity with the tools of technology and a willingness to get under the surface at the 'devil in the detail'
• You will be highly self-motivated and driven to succeed; clear about your agenda, how that fits with the strategic requirements of the business and keen to execute this at pace. You enjoy being innovative and finding solutions to problems and you do so in a commercial and pragmatic manner, exercising sound and well considered judgment
