Procurement Engineer

The purpose of this role is to support the development of sourcing strategies and support both Purchasing and Engineering in the delivery of resourcing , cost down projects and management of the vendor base.
Responsibilities

Be responsible for component and material procurement to include supplier selection, price benchmarking and price negotiation.

Supplier relationship management including monitoring supplier performance and total cost management.

Conduct studies of material costs and supplier competencies and recommend changes in purchasing procedures to improve service and/or reduce cost.

Support the organisation to help resolve key complex supplier issues

Identify cost reductions, efficiency opportunities and contribute to the achievement of efficiency targets including the development of KPI's

Carry out supplier audits in support of the development of an approved vendor list (AVL).

The role will also require the successful candidate to establish and maintain objectives and KPI's.

Who we're looking for
A qualified mechanical Engineer, the successful candidate will have experience of working within an Automotive Manufacturing environment, preferably tier 1. Extensive experience with the sourcing and introduction to manufacture of

• Plastic components Plastic injection mould tools
• Metal components Pressed metal tooling
• Aluminium Die cast components Die Casting
• High performance electro mechanical assemblies.

Experience of working with offshore vendors, particularly in India and China will be advantageous.
