Kidde Products is the only company in the world that develops and manufactures fire hose, industrial hose, fire fighting foam concentrates and fire fighting equipment. It is a global business and has continued to see growth for its innovative product ranges that are manufactured in its production in High Bentham (near Lancaster). Due to a re-organisation aligned to more effectively manage this growth, a new position has been created for a Quality Manager& Business Practices Officer.
The Quality Manager will be responsible for ensuring all new products are implemented through the NPI passport process and that, by working closely with the R&D department, they achieve the appropriate level of robustness. The Quality Manager will promote quality achievement and drive business improvement across the fire fighting division. You will also be responsible for managing the Quality Team to ensure customer complaints are overseen and reduced professionally to foster strong relationships for the future.
There will be a need to work with suppliers, existing and potential to ensure they have suitable quality systems in place to deliver the highest standard of products at all times. You will also need to implement a strategy to support the operational teams to reduce scrap and maximise first pass yield.
Who we're looking for
As Quality Manager you will ideally be educated to degree level or equivalent with a strong background in quality management. A working knowledge of SPC or Six Sigma techniques would be advantageous. You will have extensive knowledge or quality management systems such as IS0 9000 / 9001 or TS 16949 and proven experience working in an industrial, mechanical, automotive or chemical industry. Driving continuous improvement and implementing lean programmes will also be an essential part of this role.
As Quality Manager & Business Practice Officer you will also need to take responsibility for training and non compliance issues on site as well as acting as the main point of contact for driving lean programmes and achieving competitive excellence.
